Lip Rescue Kit

In an effort to save myself money and provide my friends and family with something special for Christmas, I decided to make them each a lip scrub and balm.

I got the how to for the lip scrub from www.essiebutton.com which has loads of how tos and beauty tips.

Lip Scrub
Combine and mix the following ingredients:
-2tbsp brown sugar
-2tbsp coconut oil (give it a 30 sec blast in the microwave to soften)
-1tbsp honey

Then decant into little pots. This mix makes around 4-5 pots

Lip Balm
Ingredients:
-2tbsp coconut oil
-1-2 tbsp 100% beeswax pellets
-1tbsp essential oil (I used a mix of almond and vitamin E for their moisturising properties)
Method:
-Add the pellets to a bowl and place over a pan of hot simmering water. When the wax is half melted, add the coconut oil and stir often
-When everything has melted add the essential oil and give it a good mix round to distribute the oil, wax and beeswax evenly
-Transfer to a jug and whilst it's still warm, decant into little pots

TIPS- Use equipment you don't mind getting oily! It's a nightmare trying to clean everything when it's covered in beeswax. Try using a mixture of sugar and washing up liquid to rub onto your jug, spoons and anything else with the balm on, then give it a rinse
- When pouring the balm keep stirring to make sure the oil doesn't sink to the bottom of the jug
- Pop your pots in the fridge to help them set quicker

I packaged each Lip Rescue Kit in a tiny perspex takeaway food carton and included a tag with the ingredients.

The lip scrub is yummy! :-)
